Yitzhak Laor in Haaretz, (...) explains that his society is now so profoundly right wing and off the rails (just what we've been telling you, and David Remnick too) that only real international pressure will save it. Laor mentions boycott and sanctions, and implies that the boycott should be aimed at Israel, not just the settlements. He speaks of the '67 lines, as if the Arab Peace Initiative can somehow be revived:
The tendency to blame the Palestinians for failing to compromise is part of the colonialist hauteur. We imprison Palestinians, torture, steal, spread out on their land and ask them to compromise with us? In the name of what? In the name of fear of the extreme right?

C’est un détail qui prouve que la campagne électorale israélienne est bel et bien terminée : les autorités chargées d’expédier les affaires courantes ont repris le versement du produit des taxes perçues au profit de l’Autorité palestinienne. Ces versements avaient été interrompus en décembre après le vote à l’ONU reconnaissant la Palestine comme Etat observateur des Nations unies. Rien n’a changé sur ce front-là, mais les Israéliens ont manifestement jugé qu’il était urgent de redonner un peu d’air aux Palestiniens.

L'intento di Monti è ora esplicito e ha esclusivamente fondamenta di potere politico. Non c'entra più la Costituzione, un ferrovecchio, non c'entrano più i diritti sanciti. L'importante è sulla base di categorie politiche molto incerte e vaghe come moderno conservatore moderato ecc. stabilire a chi spetta il potere e chi deve rispettare lo stato dei rapporti sociali dati, senza pensare a trasfomazioni ottenute con le lotte, bensì a una situazione che sconta come naturale la mancanza di eguaglianza e rimette in gioco la beneficenza per "curare" le più evidenti e stridenti ingiustizie.

EUROSTAT - La profezia di Krugman si avvera: l'economia è in depressione
Nel terzo trimestre 2012 il rapporto con il Pil supera il picco. Italia terza nell'Eurozona
Chiamiamola la profezia di Paul Krugman. Il premio Nobel per l'economia aveva preannunciato sul blog sul New York Times dell'11 dicembre scorso che la «bolla Monti» era scoppiata e che l'esile progetto del professore sostenuto dalla «strana maggioranza» Abc, Alfano, Bersani e Casini» aveva fallito su tutta la linea. Per questa ragione il tecnico «Salva Italia» aveva colto l'occasione di una convulsione pre-elettorale di Berlusconi per dimettersi anzitempo. La feroce analisi di Krugman è stata confermata ieri dalla rilevazione dell'Eurostat sul rapporto debito/Pil nell'Eurozona. Nel terzo trimestre del 2012, l'Italia ha registrato un picco record del 127,3, posizionandosi saldamente al terzo posto delle economie europee. Peggio hanno fatto solo la Grecia che svetta in classifica con il 152,6% (era al 149,2% a fine giugno), e il Portogallo con il 120,3%.
