PA struggles to pay salaries amid Israel sanctions

BETHLEHEM (Ma'an) – The Palestinian government announced on Sunday that it would pay its civil servants 60 percent of their December salaries by the end of this week.

A statement said those government officials in cooperation with the president’s bureau contacted several Arab countries to try and obtain money to cover civil servants’ salaries. Both the government and the president are seeking to spare employees the toll of what it called collective punishment against the Palestinian people. [...]

Absence of civil servants' salaries adds more recession to the Palestinian economy which already suffers serious crises in light of the unstable political situation.
