According to The Daily Telegraph, Britain is sending its "most formidable warship" to the Persian Gulf to "send a significant message" to the Iranians. The move comes in the wake of Iranian threats to close the Strait of Hormuz, a passage for a significant portion of the world's oil supply.

The British warship is expected to arrive in the Persian Gulf later this month. It is equipped with technology that will enable it to shoot down every type of missle Iran is known to have in its armoury.
Last month, The Jerusalem Post reported that Israel and the United States are planning to hold a joint military exercise this spring. The drill, The Jerusalem Post said, will "see the deployment of several thousand American soldiers in Israel" and will be "unprecedented in its size, will include the establishment of US command posts in Israel and IDF command posts at EUCOM headquarters in Germany – with the ultimate goal of establishing joint task forces in the event of a large-scale conflict in the Middle East."
The announcement of the Israeli and American military drill coincided with US Air Force Lieutenant General Frank Gorenc's visit to Israel.
Israeli officials have been beating the war drums for a number of years, claiming that a nuclear Iran would pose an existential threat to the Jewish state.
