Our basic attitude towards BDS
In the light of 60 years Nakba, of 42 years of occupation, of the recent killing of many civilians in Gaza perpetuated in full awareness of the situation and the ongoing blockade of Gaza , international pressure for a just and lasting peace is absolutely necessary. Therefore we welcome the non-violent Palestinian resistance against the Occupation with the broad and open BDS-Platform. The BDS-Platform developed by the Palestinian civil society in 2005 addresses itself explicitly towards Israeli opponents of the Occupation. In lending support to BDS efforts, we are also manifesting and confirming our credibility as a Jewish peace organization opposing the oppression of the Palestinians by the State of Israel.

Dear Mr. Elgar,
Last week the High Court of Israel
asserted the right of two fanatic ex-leaders of Meir Kahane`s Kach to
march through the town of Umm El-Fahm waving Israeli flags. In their
words, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Baruch Marzel want to "emphasize the
obligation of the residents of this town to be loyal to the State of
Israel and its symbols."The High Court left it to the local
police to find a "creative way" to coordinate with these
extremists, in order to exercise their right to free speech.

Dear Mr. Elgar, The sickening spiral of missile and bombing attacks goes on---and on. On February 25th it reached a new peak with the focused Israeli air strike on the Ministry of Interior building in Gaza City, as well as the head office of the Palestinian Medical Relief Society (PMRS) in Gaza. This clinic housed its main pharmacy, a mobile clinic, a loan center for persons with disabilities, and administrative offices. All of these facilities have been destroyed. A baby, sleeping in his home in a United Nations school compound, was killed At least thirty civilians were injured. This latest attack came after a series of other ones within the foregoing 24 hours, in which over 15 people were killed, including at least three children. |

The pundits, the prophets, the politicians have spoken: language rich in hope, unfortunately also, rich in hype. Where, and how, has the siege of Gaza been addressed? Mr. Abbas called Gaza the core of his heart. Mr. Olmert referred to it as a place of terrorism and kidnapping. Mr. Bush—seems to have been rather confused in his comment of liberty rising on Iraqui soil, as in Gaza….. |
