Il numero dei piccoli di Gaza morti prima di un anno di età era sceso nettamente nel corso degli ultimi decenni passando da 127 su 1000 nascite nel 1960 a 20.2/1000 nel 2008. I ricercatori dell’Unrwa invece hanno registrato nell’ultima indagine del 2013 che è tornato a salire al 22.4/1000. Ed in crescita è anche la mortalità neonatale che da 12/1000 del 2008 è passata a 20.3/1000 del 2013.

Gaza, 14 agosto 2015, Nena News – I giornali israeliani riferiscono di nuovo di trattative segrete per una tregua di 8-10 anni tra Hamas e Israele che includerebbe l’apertura di una via marittima tra la Striscia di Gaza e Cipro. Magari è vero o forse è la solita storia dell’accordo “fatto” dietro le quinte ma poi privo di seguito concreto. Sono voci che si scontrano con la realtà quotidiana di Gaza che si aggrava giorno dopo giorno. L’Unrwa (Onu) che aveva già annunciato il possibile rinvio dell’apertura delle scuole per i profughi palestinesi (non solo a Gaza) a causa di deficit di 101 milioni di dollari, ha diffuso nei giorni scorsi un rapporto allarmante che è passato senza fare rumore per le redazioni di buona parte dei mezzi d’informazione: il tasso di mortalità infantile a Gaza è tornato a salire.

It’s simply not possible to cheer for the brigade commander who shoots a Palestinian teenager, and then be shocked by settlers who throw a firebomb at an inhabited house.
Nine Palestinian homes were torched in the past three years, according to B’Tselem. How many people have been prosecuted? None. So what happened in Duma on Friday? The fire was simply better, in the eyes of the arsonists and their minions.
