There lies the present crisis for us all: for the outrageous right-wing government of Benjamin Netanyahu is speeding on with the mass colonisation of Arab land in territory which is not part of Israel, and on property which has been stolen from its Arab owners. These owners are the descendants of the “non-Jewish communities” whose rights, according to Balfour, should not be “prejudiced” by “the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people” in Palestine.

This is a new report from B’Tselem, the Israeli Information Centre for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories (and EU funded), and from HaMoked, Centre for the Defence of the Individual. It is based on affidavits and witness accounts provided by 116 Palestinians held for security reasons and interrogated at the Shikma facility, Israel, from August 2013 to March 2014. 5 of these were minors. Nearly every single detainee was exposed to some or all the range of measures described, many of which satisfy internationally ratified definitions of torture. This included: single or concerted beatings, sometimes with rifle butts and often while detainee was handcuffed and blindfolded; repeated interrogations of up to 35 hours at a time and for up to 40 days whilst tied tightly in an unnatural position on a special chair; sleep deprivation; solitary confinement; extremes of hot or cold temperatures; constant shouting and threats to the family of the detainee; prolonged periods tied spreadeagled to the 4 corners of a bed in solitary confinement; poor or absent medical care. 4 of the minors were subjected to physical violence.

Farid Esack è un teologo islamico della liberazione islamica che viene dal Sud Africa. Era sotto Nelson Mandela commissario per l'uguaglianza di genere. Nella sua terra è attivista dell'iniziativa "Boicottaggio, Disinvestimento, Sanzioni" (BDS), che si batte per i diritti dei palestinesi. In questo semestre invernale, è visiting professor presso l'Accademia delle Religioni Mondiali presso l'Università di Amburgo
L: Lei è nato nel 1959 in Sud Africa, cresciuto nel periodo dell'apartheid e lo ho combattuto. Uno stretto alleato del regime a quel tempo era Israele. Si possono confrontare i due sistemi ?
E:Si deve distinguere tra Israele da una parte e il suo comportamento nei territori palestinesi occupati d'altra parte. Per quanto riguarda lo stato di Israele, entrambi i sistemi sono comparabili: la discriminazione quotidiana dei palestinesi, le varie leggi che si applicano ai cittadini arabi ed ebrei. Queste discriminano chiaramente nella questione della terra e della casa di proprietà, ma anche nel campo sociale, nell'educazione o nell'assistenza sanitaria. La risposta è allora sì, l'apartheid in Sud Africa è simile al sistema del’odierno stato di Israele. Per quanto riguarda la situazione nei territori occupati - per esempio, per quanto riguarda il controllo delle risorse - un tale confronto non è consentito, lì è molto peggio di quanto non fosse stato in Sud Africa.

Dans les années 1980, Jean Ziegler est un héros du peuple juif, adulé par les dirigeants israéliens et les barons du Congrès juif mondial (CJM): il a eu le courage de démasquer le rôle des banques suisses dans la gestion mafieuse des biens juifs pendant, et surtout après, la période nazie. Il aura fallu des décennies pour que les héritiers des juifs massacrés pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale puissent récupérer, et en partie seulement, leurs biens. Le travail de Jean a été indispensable pour que le CJM réussisse à faire cracher les requins de Zurich et de Genève.

Roma, 23 marzo 2017, Nena News – Domenica 26 marzo saranno trascorsi esattamente due anni dal lancio di “Tempesta Decisiva”, l’operazione militare della coalizione sunnita contro i ribelli Houthi in Yemen. Un’operazione che, nelle iniziali previsioni dell’Arabia Saudita, leader della coalizione, sarebbe dovuta durare pochissimo, spezzare in breve tempo la resistenza del movimento Houthi che dal settembre 2014 aveva assunto il controllo di buona parte del paese, in particolare il nord e il centro e la capitale Sana’a.
