Dear Giorgio,

Exciting news!

We've just heard from our allies on the ground that tens of thousands of us from around the world have succeeded in delaying the demolition of the West Bank village of Susiya. Rabbis for Human Rights and Free Jerusalem write:

"Thanks to the determined struggle led by the residents of Susiya, and the public pressure in which we all took part, we have come to believe that in the coming two weeks, there will not be demolitions in the village. At the same time, we will wait to hear about developments, and when the timing for a decision regarding the village's future grows nearer, we will renew the public struggle."

Dear Giorgio,

The Israeli government has made it clear: if we don't act now, settlers will get their wish and the IDF will mark the end of Ramadan by demolishing the West Bank village of Susiya. But you can help stop this catastrophe.

Israel became a centerpiece of Jewish identity following the trauma of the Holocaust – an identity which became more or less solidified following Israel’s military victory in the Six Day War. [...] I do believe that this narrative is in many ways a betrayal of a central narrative that has sustained the Jewish people for centuries: the story of a people born out of the ashes of a Temple destroyed by the world’s mightiest empire – who responded by creating a tradition rooted in an allegiance to a Power yet greater than any human power.

We stand against anti-Arab racism and anti-Muslim bigotry.

The Network Against Islamophobia (NAI), a project of Jewish Voice for Peace, provides support and resources for those interested in organizing against Islamophobia and anti-Arab racism and making the connections between Islamophobia and Israel politics.
